Three essential organisational frameworks
A two hour workshop for senior managers that outlines three frameworks for organising a team. The first is the Org Chart that everyone is familiar with. Usually this is the only framework in practice. In a highly effective team there are two more frameworks in practice.
- The Org Chart – For accountability
- Spheres of Ownership – For work place fulfillment and engagement
- The Evolution of an Idea – For synergy, motivation and sustainability
1. Org Chart
We are all familiar with the conventional org chart. It is important for ensuring people are help accountable. However when it is the only organizational framework in practice people tend to become over worked and stressed.
2. Spheres of Ownership
When each part of an organization is a smaller version of the whole, operating under a common set of values and principles people are free to attend to the detail without encumbering their colleagues. Job fulfillment is enhanced because the boundaries are defined and autonomy can be granted, which allows people to apply their strengths in their work.
3. The Evolution of an Idea
The highest reason for any organization is to evolve ideas into a valuable service. As an idea evolves through a set of steps, different strengths are required. This framework explains the strengths required by each person who ‘owns’ the idea through each step. It enables people to see how they fit into the whole organization. It gives people a compelling reason to work harder. It makes sure the whole team is united.
